The advent of that pesky virus has dramatically changed the delivery method of our courses. The Committee decided to abandon face-to-face classes on 9 March 2020 when restrictions were first imposed in Victoria. Our tutors rose to the occasion in the most amazing fashion and changed their delivery methods to go online via Zoom, to email, and to post to those without internet access. Zoom enablers assisted those who needed a helping hand with the technology and, in addition to our enrolled members, people from all over the state asked for access to our courses.
Due to the uncertainty surrounding Covid outbreaks, the Committee decided to continue online for the first semester of 2021. We hope to be face to-face in the second semester Covid safe venues.
U3As are voluntary Seniors’ Groups that provide educational, recreational and social programs. Each U3A is organised by and for people who can best be described as being active in retirement or semi-retirement, the third age of our lives.
U3A Wangaratta was established over 35 years ago as one of the first, if not the first, U3A in regional Victoria. Our Mission is to provide opportunities for seniors to learn, teach, share and to give support to each other in a friendly and warm environment, regardless or ethnicity, religion, or ability.
We are normally located at the Wangaratta Turf Club. Continue down Sisely Avenue, past Australian Textile Mills, into Cruse Street and continue on Cruse Street into the Racecourse. We are the first red brick building on your left.
